These are photos of my mum and my daughter. They were taken about a week after my mum was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and before she started chemotherapy. As a photographer I know that photos hold so much. Memories, emotions... they help heal us. These photos are so important to me, not just because I have them to look at, but more importantly, they're for my daughter.
My mum died in December 2022 after an 18 month battle. My daughter had just turned 5 years old. She and her Grammy were extremely close, the best of friends and I know that with these photos, which also hang on our walls, we will be able to keep Grammys love and memories alive for her.
Society hates talking about and dealing with death, but it happens to all of us. We need to take the steps that we can in life, forward thinking about healing, in order to prevent trauma in death.
Because of my experience I am offering celebration of life photography sessions for families who have received a terminal diagnosis. These sessions include:
These sessions will cost just $50 to cover my travel and insurance. If you or someone you know needs a compassionate session, please contact me today.
Celebrate t21 is an organisation that brings together families within the Down syndrome community, sharing their stories and providing inspiration. They also connect families with organisations including Down Syndrome Australia, T21 Mum Network Australia and 321 Pregnancy Care.
They are known for our gorgeous photo book projects and beautiful #celebratet21giftpacks which we GIFT to families receiving a pre or postnatal diagnosis of Down syndrome. Their hope is to provide all families with a new diagnosis of Down syndrome in Australia with our very special gift pack, which welcomes them into the supportive Celebrate T21 community, and we’ve so far distributed more than 350 of these to newly diagnosed families.
I am a volunteer photographer who contributes to the book and exhibition project by photographing local families who want to be involved. If you would like to be involved for the next book (updated every two years) check out the Celebrate t21 website.
I have been a volunteer for Heartfelt since 2021. It is a beautiful volunteer organization of professional photographers dedicated to giving the gift of photographic memories to families who have experienced stillbirth or have children with serious or life-threatening illness. They are dedicated to providing this gift in a caring and compassionate manner, with all services free of charge. If you or someone you know needs or wants to have a heartfelt session, you can head to the website below or call 1800 583 768 anywhere in Australia and New Zealand. **Above photo by Gavin Blue of Heartfelt.
I first joined WIRES (Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service) when I was 18! I've had a passion for flying foxes ever since. Recuing and helping out our native wildlife is such a rewarding thing to do. If you see injured wildlife or want to become a volunteer (you totally should! I promise you don't need as much time as you think you might and every little bit counts!) check out the WIRES website by clicking the button below.

Birth is such a taboo topic. Most women who go in to give birth for the first time have never seen a birth before, or even held a newborn baby. Our birth statistics are becoming pretty dire with birth trauma on the rise and it's not unrealistic to think that in the future no one will 'be allowed' to give birth vaginally. We'll all be herded in for c-sections for no other reason than the profit of others.
I am really passionate about getting birth on display. If more women see the truth of birth, there will be less fear around it. Women will know that their bodies and their minds are capable and we will start seeing better birthing outcomes which will also lead to better postpartum experiences. Peace on earth begins at birth.
Please read all about the campaign using the button below. I need funding to do this project. I'm asking for donations. This will mean so much to me and have an impact on so many. It is a project I am feeling very passionate about and plan on getting off the ground one way or another.
Also, if you’re a grant guru or simply know of any grants that would cover this, please let me know!

**I would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of our country and pay my respects to the Gumbaynggirr people who are the custodians of the land in which I live, here in the beautiful Nambucca Valley. I would also like to thank our Elders for the knowledge and wisdom they share and the strength and determination they have shown. Because of their courage, wisdom and resilience, we are able to celebrate a continuous living culture that spans over 60,000 years**
